The Applied Center for Technology in Rock Hill, S.C., was selected to receive more than $50,000 worth of tools, equipment and supplies from industry partners like Ingersoll Rand.

“There are some basic tools — like impact wrenches, ratchets, grinders and sanders — that students need in order to get a quality, hands-on education,” said Nate Schmid, Ingersoll Rand vehicle services marketing manager. “Ingersoll Rand is happy to donate the supplies the Applied Center for Technology needs to help these students prepare for successful careers in the vehicle services industry.”

Since 2008, the Collision Repair Education Foundation, a not-for-profit organization assisting secondary and post-secondary collision repair school programs nationwide, has been able to provide more than $7 million in support through its donors.

The 2011 winning school was selected from more than 70 applicants. Collision instructor Mark Dellinger applied for the grant on his school’s behalf. In his application he wrote, “My goal is to have this shop stay ahead of the curve in order to provide my students the best opportunity possible to enter this industry and successfully remain in it.” Dellinger continued, “I am continually seeking creative ways to enrich the opportunities for my students.”

Ingersoll Rand and the Collision Repair Education Foundation will help students and administrators from the Applied Center for Technology celebrate their Ultimate makeover during a ribbon cutting ceremony May 17.
